Mercy Medical's Debra Holbrook Accepted Presidential Award

Updated: Apr 19, 2023

At the White House in February, Debra Holbrook, Mercy Medical Center's Director of Forensic Nursing and the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN) President-Elect, accepted the 2022 Presidential Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Combat Trafficking in Persons for Mercy Medical Center's Blue Dot Human Trafficking Initiative.

The award recognizes Mercy Medical “for its innovative and holistic approach for the care and wellbeing of victims of human trafficking and the collaboration with first responders for a timely and effective response, in an effort to initiate and further criminal investigations against those engaged in trafficking in persons.”

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, as well as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Join us in honoring the work of Forensic Nurses everywhere, who care for some of the most vulnerable patients and strive to provide education promoting prevention and early identification of abuse.

We are so proud to see a Maryland hospital receive the recognition it deserves on a national level. Our sincere thanks to the Forensic Nurses like Mercy Medical's Debra Holbrook and her entire team, who work everyday to bring safety, medical treatment, and justice to patients experiencing trauma in all its forms.
