The Peg E. Daw Certification Star Award, awarded by the National League for Nursing (NLN), honors individuals and organizations that exemplify the pursuit of excellence and advancement of certifications in nursing education. This award was recently renamed in honor Dr. Peg E. Daw, long-time grant administrator for the Maryland Higher Education Nurse Support Program II (NSP II).
The Faculty Academy and Mentorship Initiative of Maryland (FAMI-MD) was selected as the 2023 winner for their work in promoting, supporting, and advancing nursing education and recognized at the National League for Nursing Education Summit in September.
To date, FAMI-MD has prepared over 500 nurses for faculty positions in Maryland, supported nearly a dozen Certified Nurse Educator (CNE®) workshops, and helped the state of Maryland more than double the number of faculty with CNE® certification, from 112 in 2018 to 244 in 2023.
The FAMI-MD team includes Drs. Lisa Seldomridge, Tina Reid, Nicole Hall, Judy Jarosinski (emerita) from the SU School of Nursing, Mr. Brad Hauck, Program Director, and Ms. Beverly Payne, Program Management Specialist.
Partner colleges and universities include Chesapeake, Wor Wic, Anne Arundel, Allegany, Hagerstown, Towson, Frostburg, Bowie, University of Maryland, Stevenson, and Notre Dame of Maryland.
Congratulations to the entire FAMI-MD team on this well-deserved recognition!
